The Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas “STEG” is pursuing a war of no mercy against unpaid bills, including the state sector. The company is facing a lack of liquidity, with unpaid bills, 55% of them are with the state sector, whose overdue bills amount to approximately 900 MTND , reported African manager.
Although the STEG’s unpaid bills have been preserved at 1,700 MTND, the unpaid expense remains tremendous. Upholding the law, the STEG has therefore cut off electricity to some companies dependent on the Ministry of Agriculture, and even to specific educational institutions, albeit only during school holidays, and even to certain tax offices, always because of unpaid electricity bills.
The cut even stretched to certain hospitals and other official housing under the administration of the Ministry of Public Health.
