Tunisia-Strike by public health doctors, pharmacists and dentists: demands of professionals

The deputy secretary-general of the basic union of doctors, dentists and pharmacists of public health in Medenine Lobna Ben Alaya disclosed that today’s strike was arranged by health professionals to demand a number of requests. Ben Alaya confirmed to  Tunisie Numérique that the situation of about 38,000 doctors has not been regularized because of administration decree No. 341.
 
Calling on the authorities concerned to interfere to regularize the situation of the latter, the speaker clarified that health professionals are divided into 3 categories: general practitioners, family doctors and doctors qualified in family medicine.
 
Ben Alaya said that the latter does not hold the same diploma, considering that it is not acceptable that they receive the same wages. “We are demanding the same benefits for the general practitioner,” she said, adding that the protesters are demanding the payment of pandemic bonuses.
