Tunisia – Tabarka: Arrest of six young people including two girls following murder of young Algerian

On Sunday afternoon, the investigating judge at the Court of First Instance of Jendouba authorized the arrest of six people for 48 hours, subject to extension, following the murder of a young man earlier that day. The public prosecutor at the region’s Court of First Instance explained to TAP that the decision was made after being notified of the crime.

The public prosecutor authorized the opening of an inquiry late Saturday night and early Sunday morning against several suspects and any others who might be identified during the investigation, following Chapters 201 and 202 of the Penal Code. One of his assistants accompanied him to the crime scene early Sunday morning to check the scene and the corpse before the judge authorized a medical autopsy.

Preliminary research conducted by the Tabarka judicial police brigade, along with a medical report, indicated that an argument at the top of the building, following an evening gathering of a group of young men, was the main cause of the incident that led to the victim’s death. Among those apprehended was the son of the apartment owner. Initial investigations also led to the detention of two girls.
