Tunisia-The first Tunisian satellite obtains authorization

Challenge One, the first Tunisian satellite, recently received its authorization from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a United Nations agency specializing in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT).

According to Mohamed Frikha, founder of Telnet, the company launching the project, Challenge One got its authorization after the technical and legal qualifications of the project were concluded.

The International Telecommunications Union or ITU is the United Nations’ development agency specializing in information and communication technologies, based in Geneva. It has 193 Member States and 700 members and associates from the sector. It is the only formation that issues authorizations for this type of project.

Due to the Coronavirus, the launch of the satellite has been delayed till next year. Mohamed Frikha stated that the complex had successfully carried out all functional tests and a number of launch tests for the “Challenge One” satellite.

He added that the satellite will shortly be delivered to the Russian launch company. Nevertheless, the long-awaited appointment should be postponed.
