The Minister of Health, Faouzi Mehdi declared, this Thursday, November 26, 2020, to have deposited a request for supplementary funding of 286 million dinars (MD) for his department during the year 2021.
During a hearing by the Committee on Health and Social Affairs at the parliament on the draft budget of the Ministry of Health for the financial year 2021, he announced that he had sent to the Ministry of the Economy and Finance a request for further financing within the framework of the complementary finance bill for 2021.
The Ministry of Health’s draft budget for the year 2021 is valued at 2885 MD, an addition of 13% opposed to 2020. According to Faouzi Mehdi, the Ministry of Health necessitates investment funds of the order of 683 MD in 2021, while the draft budget of the Ministry of Health provided for investment funds of the order of 415 MD.
This year, the Ministry of Health has resorted to mobilizing additional funds of about 41 MD to increase its human resources in public hospitals. It also decided to create 1,375 jobs to deal with the coronavirus.
