In an official statement released on Friday, October 18, 2019, the Ministery of Cultural Affairs responded to direct calls on social media cordially inviting to profusely decorate some archaeological monuments and emblematic places such as the ancient city of Tunis.
The ministry cautioned against audacious acts that undoubtedly constitute a severe infringement of Tunisia national heritage.Adding these activities are greatly forbidden by the Heritage and Arts Protection Code. They warned that the National Institute of Heritage is the only one authorized to intervene in archaeological areas.
The ministry called upon local authorities to intervene instantly to prevent such acts that threaten national heritage.
