Tunisia-Towards an increase in the selling price of Beer and Alcohol

The finance bill for the next year (2021) introduced a suggestion price of beer and wines.

The government of Hichem Mechichi defended this proposal on the exceptional circumstances that Tunisia is going through and with the purpose of mobilizing supplementary tax resources for the benefit of the state budget, particularly since these products do not serve as basic products, but rather are luxury products and can withstand high tax pressure. Accordingly, it was proposed to raise the tariff of what is known for the consumption of beer and wines.

Under this proposal, the tarrif on employee consumption on beer will grow from 0.018 dinars per centilitre to 0.024 dinars per centiliter. As for the classified wines derived especially from the fermentation of soft grapes or from the juice of soft grapes, which are packed in flasks included in the number M 22.04 of the customs tariff for information on consumption, an increase has been proposed from 1.8 dl per liter to 2.4 dinars per liter.
