Tunisia-Tunisia deeply concerned by the discovery of mass graves in Tarhouna in Libya

In a press release, Tunisia has revealed its profound concern over shocking reports of the discovery of mass graves in the city of Tarhuna, Libya.

“This greatly dangerous progress of the situation proves once again that military options can only further complicate the crisis, plant the seeds of discord and increase the suffering of the brotherly Libyan people,” the Foreign Ministry said.

To this end, Tunisia emphasised the necessity to launch an independent and transparent probe into these mass graves.

It called on all parties to respect international humanitarian and human rights law and to preserve the lives of civilians, especially those of women and children.

In this context, Tunisia called for compliance with the arms embargo on Libya.

It urged combined international and regional efforts to achieve a political resolution through peaceful dialogue within the framework of the process under the aegis of the United Nations, in accordance with the political agreement, UN Security Council resolutions and the decisions of the Berlin Conference.
