Tunisia-Tunisia greets over 9 million tourists in 2019

Over 9 million tourists have visited Tunisia as of December 20, 2019, commencing a new milestone record for the country, stated Tourism and Handicrafts Minister Rene Trabelsi.

The Cumulative amount of visitors will attain 9.5 million by December 31. The sector’s earnings surpassed TND5.53 billion Trabelsi unveiled in a press conference.

The rise in the number of tourists is attributed to the enhancement in the security situation and efforts by the tourism ministry in coordination with all stakeholders in the sector. He added that the country observed an increase of 14 % in French tourists, 70 %in British tourists, 21.4 % in Italian tourists and 6 % in Russian tourists.

Moreover, Tunisia received approximately 2.6 million Algerian tourists and recorded an increased rate of around 8.3 %.

Furthermore, Trabelsi foresaw that work on the tourist boat in Gammarth will kick-off in early 2020.
