The subject of waste imported from Italy proceeds to generate much debate. A case of an extremely complex matter, which points to an unprecedented environmental scandal in Tunisia.
Currently, it is the destination of these large quantities of waste that builds questions. According to Tunisian customs, imported waste containers must imperatively be returned to Italy, in order to gain a solution to this corruption case.
Speaking to Shems FM, Tunisian Customs spokesperson Haythem Zannad, said that the Tunisian company which imported this waste is called upon to return it to Italy.
He explained that the official channels such as the Ministries of Finance and Environment and the services of the presidency of the government must coordinate with the Italian parties for this purpose.
