Tunisia-UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet:Tunisia is a model for the entire region

In negative light of rising and escalated violence in the Arabic region.UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet hailed Tunisia as a unique model in its democratic transition.

In an official statement to “Tunis Afrique Presse” Michelle Bachelet, declared that Tunisia’s reforms in Human rights, the consecration of freedoms and the reinforcement of the democratic process must be clearly supported. Furthermore, she welcomed Tunisia’s recent victory in the security council.

On her meeting with foreign minister Mr. Khemaies Jhinaoui, Bachelet explained that they discussed issues of common ground, particularly the Libyan file and follow-up recommendations in the field of human rights in Tunisia.

It is noteworthy That UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet carried out a working visit to Tunisia from the 11th to 13th of June. In order, To participate in the world’s leading summit on human rights in the digital age.

In the same context, Bachelet met president Beji Caid Essebsi. Bachelet highlighted that her first visit to the region reflects the UN’s keenness to support Tunisia democratic experience and the success it has achieved in many areas. From his part, Beji Caid Essebsi stressed that despite challenges, Tunisia will adhere to democratic approaches. As he considers it the only approach toward democracy.

Moreover, he highlighted the pioneering role of Tunisian women in the success of the country’s emerging democracy. He also stressed on solidifying women status through equal rights.
