In a declaration to the media, on the sidelines of t a plenary session at the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) on the results of the first 100 days of government action and the post-COVID-19 period programme. Minister of Health Abdellatif Mekki stated that realistically, there is no longer any horizontal contamination. On the other hand, he affirmed the existence of imported case s. Mekki clarified that all imported cases contamination are placed in mandatory Quarantine centres.
In this perspective, the minister indicated that during the previous period, Tunisia resisted the pandemic by being in a position of defense and this by closing the borders and the economy. “Now Tunisia must be in an offensive position to fight the coronavirus,” he said.
Also, Mekki said that the various ministries have executed many protocols as part of the fight against the coronavirus, emphasising that if the citizen respects these protocols, this will prevent the spread of the virus.
In conclusion, the minister called on all citizens to respect preventive measures, in particular, wearing masks and regular hand washing, as well as respecting protocols instead of being afraid.
“Fear must be transformed into respect for preventive measures and application of health protocols,” he said.
