President of the Free Destourien Party, Abir Moussi, said Wednesday, August 12, 2020, that her party approves the initiative of the prime minister-designate, Hichem Mechichi, regarding the formation of a technocratic government.
Moussi said she let Mechichi know when they met earlier today that the next government must sever all ties with the “Islamists” and must be based on the constitution and the law.
Meanwhile, Moussi said she is participating in government formation talks today because the appointed head of government said he is opting for a government with independent competencies. She also said that she presented Mechichi with the socio-economic program of her party as well as the draft constitution drawn up by the PDL.
With this in mind, the politician asserted that in the event that the government team is independent, only on the surface, her party will not vote for that team. It is in this sense that she made it clear that the PDL stands for a completely independent government.
