Arrested Tunisian presidential nominee Nabil Karoui’s incapacity to campaign will have consequences on the credibility of the elections and the country’s image abroad, interim president Mohamed Ennaceur said on Friday.
“Not enjoying his freedom as a presidential candidate to continue to run his election campaign,” he said about Nabil Karoui, “has become a subject of concern, questioning and criticism in different circles and at both the national and international levels.
He also displayed his gratitude to ISIE, the army and national security for their part in the success of the first round of the early presidential election.
Ennaceur also called on all Tunisians to participate massively in the legislative elections on Oct. 6 and the second round of the presidential election on Oct. 13.
