The secretary-general of the Hedi Chaker hospital union in Sfax, Hamadi Mesrati accused Sfax mayor Mounir Loumi of desiring to exploit politics to take revenge on the union. “Besides, we have often stopped him from undermining the public service,” he added.
He told the Tunisie Numérique ‘s correspondent that the mayor is deceiving public opinion by stating that the waste piled up in the hospital is toxic. Mesrati furthermore explained that this waste is not toxic and does not represent any danger.
“We have documents confirming that the city council approved the transportation of hazardous waste to the landfill,” he said. Mesrati called on the public prosecutor to open an investigation to this effect.
