Tunisia – Will Ennahdha be resigned to keeping Mechichi?

Ennahdha leaders headed by Ghannouchi, continue to harass the prime minister urging him to urgently make some kind of reshuffle in his team. The purpose is to place Anouar Maârouf in Kasbah and then designate figures affiliated to the party. However, Mechichi and his team refuse partisan appointments in the administration.

They sought to bypass Mechichi and had the idea of approaching Kaïs Saïed in person. They let him know that if he desires to hold them to account, he will have to give them the chance to rule, first. They suggest that he remove Mechichi and appoint someone from Ennahdha to lead the government and evaluate him afterwards.

Nevertheless, Kaïs Saïed is not fooled, and he is in no way tempted to walk in the ambush they want to set for him. It is, indeed, unthinkable for him to designate someone who will do everything to get his head.

As a result, the Nahdhaouis will, presumably, have to resign themselves to holding Mechichi in place, since they will not be capable to remove him. And they’re going to have to bargain hard, to get the concessions they want from him!
