Tunisia: Yassine Ayari begins hunger strike

Amal wa Amal Movement declared today that MP Yassine Ayari has decided to begin on a hunger strike in jail since this morning. According to the press release by the Movement, this decision was taken for various reasons including:

  • The new legal proceedings before the military courts against the background of posts published on its official page condemning the events of July 25, 2021
  • Denying his request for parole and stopping him from meeting the sentence execution judge for more than 3 weeks
  • The lack of adequate sanitary circumstances led to the decline of his state of health despite the submission of his medical file to the prison management showing that he was suffering from an illness
  • Prevent him from shopping in the canteen and prevent him to know the time and date
  • Prevent him from receiving letters
  • Prevent him and other prisoners from getting vaccinated
