Speaking to Shems FM, Former prime minister Youssef Chahed stressed that Tunisia now needs profound political changes. It is not sufficient to modify the electoral law, it is crucial to organize early elections or even a referendum in order to set in place a political regime that takes into the record the specificities of the Tunisian people, he declared.
This new system needs to give rise to a majority capable of governing and a minority that recognizes its defeat and which is content to be part of the opposition, he added.
Remarking on the latest statements by Ennahdha in which the Islamic Movement expresses its availability to make concessions, Chahed said that Ennahdha is now obliged to hold this kind of speech and that it no longer really has a choice.
