The report of the Court of Auditors passed the results of the control of the financing of electoral campaigns for the early presidential election and the legislative elections of 2019.
This report recently submitted by the first president of the Court of Accounts and President of the Court of Financial Discipline, Néjib Ktari, to the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, prime minister Hichem Mechihi, and to House speaker pinpoints several candidates including former head of government Youssef Chahed.
In its report, the Court of Auditors recalls in particular that article 53 of the electoral law prohibits the use of public means and resources for the benefit of a list of candidates, a candidate or a party.
And to note that the presidential candidate, Youssef Chahed, used the resources of the public administration as part of his electoral campaign, the report of the Court of Auditors indicating, in fact, that during his campaign, Youssef Chahed used an administrative car and two public buses, which the candidate denied in his response to the Court of Auditors.
