Caretaker Prime Minister Youssef Chahed announced that an issued decree would allow potential whistleblowers to be awarded 5% of the considerable amount of money recovered that could reach up to 50,000 dinars.
Talking at the grand opening of the 4th national anti-corruption conference under the key theme: “Fight against Corruption: a Participatory Process,” Chahed emphasised the marked improvement made by Tunisia in the fierce battle against corruption, enabling it to progressively increase its ranking in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).“The fierce struggle against corruption is a long-term fight that requires solid readiness and engagement to deal with lobbies and mafia-like networks,” he stated.
During his speech, he summoned laws in the battle against corruption, particularly Law No. 2018-46 of August 1, 2018, on reporting property and interests, fight against illicit enrichment and conflict of interest in public sector, Organic Law No. 2017-10 of March 7, 2017 on corruption exposure and whistleblower protection and the Organic Law No. 2016-77 of December 6, 2016 linking to the judicial economic and financial division.
