Aswat Nisaaa association cautioned against manipulation attempts in relationship with Zouhair Makhlouf case, accused of sexual harassment. it condemned the abuse of influence exercised by certain judges who favour “the culture of impunity” by referring to the press release issued by the Association of Tunisian Magistrates on August 26, 2021 concerning the member of the Judicial Council and the Attorney General at the Nabeul Court of Appeal who utilised his power to intervene Makhlouf case, accused of sexually harassing a student.
It called for speeding up the review of this case and others related to violence against women in order to protect the rights and dignity of Tunisian women and all citizens.
Asswat Nissaa expressed its full and unconditional solidarity with all women victims of violence, calling on the Tunisian state to back the efforts of civil society organizations to protect them. The association condemned exceeding a period of 9 months to examine this matter.
