Tunisian and COVID-19 vaccine survey: 13.6% reluctant to vaccination

Tunis Survey, a specialist in online surveys and digital studies, has just revealed the results of its survey: Tunisian and COVID-19 vaccine. The study aims to understand the Tunisian approach towards the Covid-19 vaccine. This survey is based on a self-administered online survey.
It should be remarked that this is the Third Wave of inquiry. As a reminder, the second wave, which took place from April 22 to 28, 2021, showed that 29.3% of Tunisians were reluctant about the vaccine. The third wave took place from July 06 to 13, 2021.
The sample size after screening is 2,960 respondents.

Despite the ravaging of the pandemic, 13.6% of Tunisians continue to be reluctant.
When asked “Are you going to get vaccinated against Covid-19?”, 40.42% of respondents said YES.

The reluctant people represent 13.6% of respondents with 9.1% who reject the vaccine and 4.5% who still do not know whether they will be vaccinated or not.
The number of reticent people has dropped sharply since the commencement of the barometer. They were 61% in March 2021 (1st wave ) to rise to 29.3% in April (2nd wave ) and eventually reached 13.6% during this wave.

People under 49 want to be vaccinated:

56.51% of those under 49 desire to be vaccinated as opposed to 65.98% of reluctant during the 2nd wave .

Those under 30 are the most reluctant:

33.6% of those under 30 state they will not get the vaccine or are still hesitant. They were 69% reluctant during wave 2.

First, Pfizer-BioNTech, otherwise it doesn’t matter!

Replying to the question, “If you are going to get the vaccine and you have a choice, which COVID vaccine will you choose?” The respondents chose:

  • 66.8% Pfizer-BioNTech;
  • 4.2% Sputnik V;
  • Sinovac up to 4%;
  • AstraZeneca / Oxford at 3.6%;
  • Moderna at 3.1%;

While Pfizer-BioNTech continues to be the most desired vaccine, 17.6% of Tunisians have no favourite.

Confidence to get vaccinated
Asking the question, “Why are you not going to get vaccinated?” It turns out that a shortage of confidence is the greatest barrier to getting vaccinated.
Indeed, 47.8% of those who do not get vaccinated do not trust vaccines. 16.4% of respondents do not go to be vaccinated alleging that they have already been sick and are consequently immune. 13.4% of respondents are because they believe their turn is still a long way off.
This arose through the open question where respondents said ‘I might have to wait a long time or ‘I’m not on the priority list’. 10.4% decline to be vaccinated because they are against vaccination in general.

Development of the vaccination campaign

69.6% of those who have already been vaccinated received the 2 doses of vaccine against 30.4% awaiting the second dose.

92.3% of those vaccinated claim to have had no or simply mild effects. 76.2% of them received Pfizer-BioNTech as a vaccine.
