United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated on Monday that the Gaza Strip became a “living hell” for more than 2 million people.
“In the last nine months, we have witnessed unprecedented failures of humanity in a territory marked by decades of violence,” Lazzarini stated in his opening address to the meeting of the agency’s Advisory Commission in Geneva, adding that “Gaza has been decimated.”
In addition, he said that the collapse of civil order led to an upsurge in looting and smuggling in the war-torn enclave, impeding “the delivery of desperately needed humanitarian aid.”
