US to end COVID-19 emergencies in May

United States President Joe Biden informed Congress on Monday that he intends to end remaining national emergencies regarding the coronavirus on May 11, the US Office of Management and Budget announced.

Almost three years after they were first proclaimed, Biden will formally revamp the federal approach to the coronavirus to address the disease as an endemic rather than a pandemic, as per the AP. It comes after emergency measures for aiding Americans during the outbreaks were already curtailed by Congress.

“To be clear, continuation of these emergency declarations until May 11 does not impose any restriction at all on individual conduct with regard to COVID-19,” the official statement explained.
