US to reportedly strike Houthi targets in Yemen

A US-led coalition is likely to strike against Houthi positions in Yemen in reaction to the Yemeni rebel group’s continuing assaults on maritime traffic in the Red Sea, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing Western diplomats.

The move comes after the rebel group defied an ultimatum to cease the attacks in the Red Sea, launching a series of missile and drone strikes last Tuesday. Western diplomats have informed maritime executives that the coalition’s likely targets include missile and drone launch sites, radar installations, and weapons depots in the Yemeni cities of Hodeida and Hajjah. Infrastructure in the capital, San’a, is also being considered for potential strikes.
