UTC – NCUK Partnership: Guaranteed Access to World-class Universities

Top international universities are now easily accessible thanks to a newly established  partnership between UTC and NCUK.

In today’s competitive world, it has become increasingly important for our university students to better position themselves in the global marketplace. An international high-quality education that helps them stand out can be a key to success for new BAC students or for matriculated graduates to jumpstart their international careers.

On Thursday, June 24th, the University of Tunis Carthage (UTC) hosted a launch event to celebrate the recent partnership with NCUK, the Northern Consortium of UK universities.  This private event took place at UTC’s campus in Tunis and welcomed a series of guest speakers, including Her Majesty’s Ambassador Edward Oakden, UTC President Khaldoun Ben Taarit, UTC-NCUK Academic Director Sheryl Meyer, NCUK’s CEO John Brewer, Associate Director Andrew Straughan, and Academic Associate Director Nico Decourt. Esteemed guests from the Government of Tunisia, the UTC Board of Advisors, and other embassies also attended the event.

UTC-NCUK: Top International Education

UTC – University of Tunis Carthage was chosen as the first and only university in Tunisia to become the partner of NCUK (Northern Consortium of United Kingdom Universities), a consortium of world-leading universities dedicated to giving international students guaranteed access to top institutions around the world. This partnership between UTC and NCUK will allow students in Tunisia to prepare for NCUK’s qualifications. This new partnership supports UTC’s commitment to increasing access to quality international education in the region by opening a pathway to highly regarded institutions in the UK and other international locations  that are financially affordable to more students in Tunisia and the region.

This program gives UTC-NCUK students the opportunity to continue their studies at more than 45 accredited universities located in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States.

“With more than 28 years, UTC has built a strong identity as a student-centered university offering personalized advising and high-quality teaching that prepares students to reach their full potential. Our visionary partnership with NCUK aims to make high-quality international programs financially accessible to a greater number of students in Tunisia and the region while providing them with a state-of-the-art campus, top research and professional faculty, and cutting-edge equipment” declared the President of UTC, Khaldoun Ben Taarit.

Prestigious Universities:

Not only does the program prepare UTC students to access prestigious universities around the world, but 85% of those who participate in this program enter an international university that is in the TOP 100 of the QS World University Rankings. Among others, these universities include the University of Manchester, the University of Bristol, the University of Leeds, the University of Sheffield, University of Alberta – Canada, University of Western Australia, University of Auckland, and Queen Mary University of London.

Internationally-Recognized Programs:

The UTC-NCUK programs are designed to prepare students to succeed in universities around the world. They are backed by personalized student support, top Tunisian and international professors, and an outstanding 30-year track record. Students can choose from three options:

  • International Foundation Year – Année Préparatoire Internationale: The IFY is a collaborative program developed with university partners to prepare high school graduates for their entry to undergraduate degree courses. In addition to academic knowledge, the International Foundation Year gives students specialized  English language training, as well as study and cultural skills that are an essential part of their degree coursework. This unique combination helps students to get into the university of their choice and get on with their future career. Four IFY tracks will be offered at UTC:
    • Engineering & Technology
    • Medicine & Health Science
    • Business & Management
    • Humanities & Social Sciences
  • Pre-Master’s Preparation – Programme Pré-Master: Developed with university partners, the PMP gives guaranteed access to a postgraduate degree upon successful completion. It is a complete solution for students wishing to gain their Master’s degree in the UK or another country, such as the US and Australia.
  • Year One and Year Two: Students can attend the first two years of their chosen UK degree at UTC in Tunisia then pursue their last year in the UK.

“I am proud to highlight that NCUK is a group founded by 16 leading universities dedicated to giving international students guaranteed access to universities and helping students succeed when they get there. These universities include many QS Top 100 institutions such as the University of Manchester, University of Bristol, Queen Mary University of London, University of Exeter, University of Alberta – Canada, University of Western Australia and University of Auckland.

I am also thrilled with the support that the UK is providing to the Tunisian Government through the Tunisia-UK Commission for Higher Education and Scientific Research, World Bank projects (TEEP and PREFAT), Second Chance Education and the English language and soft skills project in partnership with the British Council. Last year, and in spite of the pandemic context, British Council provided training opportunities to +5,000 primary English language teachers. We are very proud of the fruitful collaboration with the Tunisian Government, particularly in the education sector, a priority sector for the international community and for my country, the United Kingdom.

The launch of this partnership between UTC and NCUK supports the response of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the job market needs for a better employability of young Tunisians. This event comes at a time when young Tunisians are passing the end of year exams and we take this opportunity to congratulate the Tunisian Government on the unparalleled success of keeping students in school and maintaining national exams on time.” said His Excellency, Edward Oakden CMG, the British Ambassador to Tunisia.
