WH rejects sanctions bill on ICC personnel

The White House formally opposed a congressional bill that aims to sanction International Criminal Court (ICC) officials for investigating war crimes involving Israeli leaders.

In an official statement, the administration criticized the ICC prosecutor’s efforts to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yaov Gallant as “reckless,” but rejected the idea of imposing sanctions on ICC personnel.

The proposed bill, which split the House of Representatives, also targets foreign entities and individuals aiding the ICC’s investigation of Israel.
