World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Sunday expressed deep concern over the severe deterioration of the health system in Gaza, labelling it a tragic situation.
“The decimation of the Gaza health system is a tragedy,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter. “We persist in calling for CeasefireNow.”
“In the face of constant insecurity and inflows of wounded patients, we see doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers and more continue striving to save lives,” Tedros said.
In addition to condemning the devastating impact on the health infrastructure, Tedros commended the resilience of Gaza’s medical professionals who persist in their efforts to save lives, despite facing heightened challenges and a continuous influx of patients.
