WikiLeaks’ Assange denied bail by London court

A London court ruled on Wednesday against freeing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on bail. District Judge Vanessa Baraitser revealed that Assange still has an “incentive to abscond” and could fail to return to court if released.

Earlier this week, Baraitser rejected the United States’ Assange extradition request, quoting his mental condition and warning of suicide risk. The US Department of Justice announced it would appeal the decision and Assange’s lawyers had called for him to be released on bail ahead of the appeal case, alleging his prison conditions are oppressive.
