An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 shook the Ryukyu Islands of Japan on Tuesday, European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) informed.
The tremor struck the region at a depth of 20 kilometers, 213 kilometers northeast of Okinawa between Taiwan and Japan’s mainland, the seismological center noted. Minutes later, a second earthquake of magnitude 5.6 struck Kagoshima Prefecture at a depth of 10 kilometers, 96 kilometers from the city of Naze, according to the United States Geological Survey.
