European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday that 70% of all adults in the European Union have received all needed doses of a coronavirus vaccine.
“70% of adults in the EU are now fully vaccinated,” Von der Leyen stated. “But the pandemic is not over and we must remain vigilant,” she added.
Von der Leyen stressed that “many more Europeans” need to be vaccinated soon in order to avoid a new wave of infections and prevent the emergence of new variants.
