President Tebboune summons Algerian ambassador in France

President of the Algerian Republic, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered the summoning of the Algerian ambassador to France, Said Moussi for consultations with immediate effect, said a statement from the Presidency of the Republic on Wednesday.

“In the extension of the official note by which Algeria has opposed firmly against the clandestine and illegal exfiltration of an Algerian national whose physical presence on the national territory is mandated by the Algerian justice, the President of the Republic Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered the summoning of the Algerian ambassador to France, Saïd Moussi, for consultation with immediate effect, ”said the press release.

She is an Algerian journalist and activist, Amira Bouraoui, who was arrested last Friday for illegal entry into Tunisian territory. The reporter was threatened with extradition to Algeria where she incurred a 2 -year prison sentence following her conviction for an “offence” to Islam. She was finally able to take a flight to Lyon (France) on Monday evening, thanks to the intervention of her lawyers – a French and a Tunisian – and French diplomacy with the Tunisian authorities.
