Two suicide explosions shook the Tunisian capital on Thursday killing one police officer and injuring several .The first explosion occurred in Charles de Gaulle Street downtown Tunis. The loud explosion was heard throughout the surrounding neighbourhood. Aged 24, Police officer Mahdi Zimmerli martyred in the line of duty.
The second attack happened at Bab El Gorjani near the National Counter-terrorism unit. Failing to enter, the bomber was forced to blow himself up at the side of the rear parking lot of the unit. The explosion left four security officers injured.
“At 11 am (10:00 GMT) an individual blew himself up outside the back door of the base“, interior ministry spokesman Sofiene Zaag told AFP.
