Three navy units saved 31 illegal immigrants from various nationalities including two women (11 from Guinea, 10 from Nigeria, 4 from Codivoire, 2 from Mali, 2 from Egypt, 1 from Togo, 1 from Burkina Faso). The migrants’ boat was about to sink after water leaked to it at the north of Ras Jdir, about 32 km away. They sailed from the Libyan coast toward Europe.
They were taken to the port of Zarzis, where they were handed over to the National Guard units to complete the legal procedures in their regard, reads a statement by the Ministry of National Defense.
