Tunisia – 7 pm Curfew : President Kais Saied still scores points

The President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed, prime minister Hichem Mechichi and house speaker Rached Ghannouchi honoured this Friday, April 9, 2021,  the 83rd anniversary of the April 9, 1938 events (Martyrs’ Day)  at the martyrs’ square in Sejoumi,

President Kais Saied placed a wreath of flowers at the foot of the memorial, built in tribute to the martyrs and recited the Fatiha in their memory.

He saluted the national flag to the sound of the national anthem. Three cannon shots were fired on this occasion.

The President of the Republic took advantage of this event to turn to Mechichi, calling on him to review the administration decision relating to the advancement of the curfew to 7 p.m., evoking the consequences of this measure on many social categories.

A remark that evidently did not please Mechichi who spread with nervousness that it is up to the scientific committee to make such a decision, hinting that it does not fall within the competence of the Presidency of the Republic.

Kais Saied then replied that the scientific committee had no decision-making power, since it is a political decision, according to a video published by the Presidency of the Republic.
