Tunisia-Strengthening fight against corruption: Firm commitment from Kais Saied

President of the republic, Kais Saied, reaffirmed his commitment against corruption during a critical meeting with Ms. Mchikat Salamah, president of the National Reconciliation Commission, this Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Carthage Palace .

Assessment of the commission:

During this meeting, President Saied was briefed regarding the progress made by the Commission, particularly after the recent session of the National Security Council. He examined several files disclosing the extent of corruption that has eaten away at state structures and the resources of the Tunisian people since the 1990s, as well as corruption networks inside and outside the country.

Renewed fight against corruption:

President Saied emphasised that the fight against corruption is a popular demand and cautioned that corrupters, who today attempt to hide and have ramifications in all sectors, will not be able to escape justice.

He set a clear ultimatum: the corrupters must either return the stolen funds and then continue their activities far from any revenge or blackmail, or they will be judged fairly by Tunisian justice.

Zero impunity:

The President insisted that no amount of wealth, employment or propaganda can whitewash the actions or funds of the guilty or protect them from responsibility and punishment, today or tomorrow.
