The UGTT stated that workers are the most affected by the socio-economic and financial crisis in the country as well as political instability. According to the UGTT, employees encounter several hardships including unemployment, the decline of purchasing power, falling wages and soaring prices. It blamed what is occurring now on the government’s liberal policies that were causing social disparity, saying it is ready to stand up for workers’ rights. “It is time to combat corruption, smuggling, speculation and tax evasion that threaten the stability of the country,” reads the press release.
