A new earthquake, measuring 6.3, hit the province of Herat, in the north-west of Afghanistan, on Sunday, causing, according to an initial report, at least two deaths and 154 wounded in this region where a devastating earthquake left more than a thousand dead a week ago.
The earthquake happened Sunday morning at 8:06 a.m. local time (5:06 a.m. Tunis time) with an epicentre 33 kilometres from the city of Herat, according to the American Institute of Geophysics (USGS). This tremor was followed by several aftershocks of lesser magnitude.
