Another 50 Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails have been identified as candidates for release. This follows the extension of the hostage swap and ceasefire deal with Hamas in the Gaza Strip for an additional two days, including the prominent activist Ahed Tamimi.
Recall that this activist had already been apprehended in December 2017 and condemned to eight months in prison in March 2018 when she was 16 years old for slapping two Israeli soldiers.
Becoming a symbol of resistance against the Israeli occupation, Ahed’s trial attracted international attention. She was released on July 29, 2018, by the Zionist authorities.
