The Minister of Culture Malika Bendouda made comments that sparked a large controversy and many reactions of anger on social media after declaring that the Algerian woman who does not know how to prepare couscous represents a danger for the Algerian family.
This declaration comes as the couscous dish was classified this week as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, a dossier which has been carried by Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia
