At least 22 people have lost their lives in the deadly landslide at a gold mine in northern Tanzania, acting commander of the region’s fire and rescue force, Faustine Mtitu stated on Sunday.
“We are persuaded that there are no more bodies trapped in the rubble,” he said after the two-day rescue operation. “These fellow Tanzanians were small miners in the area, attempting to earn a living for themselves, their families,” the country’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan said.
