United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Defence Grant Shapps is anticipated to announce the deployment of 20,000 British troops across Europe to take part in NATO’s Exercise Steadfast Defender 24.
According to a press release by the UK Defence Ministry, it will send eight warships and submarines and more than 2,000 sailors from the Royal Navy, as well as 16,000 soldiers from the British Army, which will be deployed across eastern Europe, and the Royal Air Force will contribute with F35B Lightning attack aircraft and Poseidon P8 surveillance aircraft.
This deployment will occur in the first half of 2024, following recent strikes conducted by the UK against Yemen-based Houthis, and the announcement of a $3.1 billion care package to Ukraine.
