Beirut port officials to be placed under house arrest

The Lebanese government will place all port officials who oversaw storage and guarding at the port in Beirut since 2014 under house arrest, according to ministerial sources.

Lebanon’s cabinet agreed to the measure during an emergency session on Wednesday, according to the sources.

The sources added that the army will oversee the house arrest until responsibility for the explosions at Beirut’s port is determined.
