Borrell slams Israel for ‘confiscating’ West Bank land

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell criticized on Sunday Israel’s decision to declare 800 hectares of West Bank territory as “state land” and plan to build new settlements on it.

“Confiscation of occupied land violates the international law. The EU will not recognize changes to the 1967 borders, including in Jerusalem, unless agreed by the parties. Such illegal actions only serve to fuel tensions and undermine Israel’s security, which the EU is committed to,” Borrell said.
