In another heartbreaking incident emerging in the times of coronavirus, a US couple that had been married for 73 years died hours apart.
Mary and Wilford Kepler were admitted to a hospital in Wisconsin after contracting coronavirus, WTMJ-TV reported. Their family didn’t know how the two contracted the virus.
After fighting the virus side by side, they died of coronavirus-related complications, Mary passing away six hours after Wilford, according to WTMJ-TV.
But in a time when many around the world have not been able to say their final goodbyes to their loved ones face to face, the couple’s family took solace in the fact that Mary and Wilford were together in their last moments.
Because they both had coronavirus, they had beds next to each other. And they were able to say “I love you” to each other one last time, their granddaughter Natalie Lameka told the news portal.
“They had been holding hands and that was just heartbreaking to hear but also heartwarming to hear,” Lameka told WTMJ-TV. “And we were just so thankful they were together and were aware they were together,” Lameka said. — Agencies
