Doctors Without Borders– Gaza Strip: Between 800 and 1000 new injured recorded daily

Several doctors who are members of Doctors Without Borders have made this choice and are backing the Ministry of Health teams, notably in Al-Shifa Hospital, in Gaza City, where MSF provided treatment to people suffering severe burns for years.

“According to the information they send us, every day there are between 800 and 1,000 new wounded in the Gaza Strip. These figures only list people who manage to get to hospitals,” Doctors Without Borders underlined on Tuesday.

“Access to health facilities is extremely risky and complicated by the shortage of gasoline: in general, only the most seriously ill patients go to the hospital, because without care they risk dying. Since the beginning of the conflict, there have been more than 9,700 injured,” says Guillemette Thomas, Doctors Without Borders medical coordinator for Palestine in Jerusalem.

According to it, 60% of the population of Gaza, or more than a million people, live outside and have no access to anything. They lack water and access to care, and no primary health care is available anymore because clinics are closed. Hygiene conditions are very poor.
