Wales First Minister Mark Drakeford announced on Wednesday his intention to leave that post, which he has held since 2018.
Drakeford will also step down as the leader of the Labour Party in Wales. He noted he would keep occupying both posts until his replacement was elected, which should be around Easter time. Drakeford previously indicated he would not be seeking re-election as a member of the Senedd Cymru, the Welsh regional parliament, for Cardiff West.
