Foreign Affairs ministers of France and Germany denounced Iran’s decision to execute Mohsen Shekari on Thursday. The protester was found guilty of causing injuries to a security officer in September during a demonstration in Tehran.
French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anne-Claire Legendre told reporters that the “execution comes on top of other serious and unacceptable violations.” Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock added in a Twitter post that the “Iranian regime’s contempt for human life is boundless” but “the threat of execution will not suffocate the will for freedom.”
