The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced on Thursday the dates of the final-stage qualifying matches for the 2022 FIFA World Cup that involve the crisis-hit Ukraine’s definitive and potential participation.
The semi-final match of the play-offs between Ukraine and Scotland has been rescheduled for June 1 and will take place in Glasgow. The winner of that game will next face Wales in Cardiff on June 5. The team that triumphs in the second match will qualify for the 2022 World Cup, which will be played in Qatar from November 21 to December 18.
“The rescheduled fixtures have resulted in the UEFA Nations League calendar being adjusted for some of the games in order to accommodate the postponed play-off matches,” the statement read. “FIFA would like to thank all of the parties involved for the strong spirit of solidarity and cooperation that has led to this unanimous decision.”
