A raging fire apparently caused by fireworks set off to celebrate a wedding consumed a hall filled with guests in northern Iraq, killing about 100 people and wounding 150 others.
Authorities stated that flammable building materials contributed to the latest disaster. In the fire’s chaotic aftermath, officials offered conflicting death tolls, and security officials said they detained staff at the wedding hall as part of their inquiry .
